a nougat problem
I’ve been wanting to make nougat (well, only lately, since getting a thermy) but I’m stumped on where to get the edible rice paper sheets that you encase it in. I asked at the Asian grocery and she tried to sell me the rice paper that you use for cold rolls, which won’t work. I have a vague recollection that someone I knew once did that by mistake- and it was hard and brittle and crackly and sharp and just not the thing. Maybe I should look online. Hmmm
Here is the pic of the chocolate cake I mentioned in my last post- I even decorated it just like I used to do for the old recipe, so it looks the same.
And I finished crocheting the jumper for my friend’s son- I’m hoping it was a large, heavy, warm jumper he was after because that’s how it turned out! Otherwise I’ll put it up for sale on my Etsy shop.
We had steamed fish and veggies done in the thermy the other night- I know this is a terrible pic, but I couldn’t google a better one that shows how it was. You blitzed the garlic, green chilli, ginger, lemongrass and coriander in the thermy and then coated the fish with it before steaming the rice, veggies and fish all at the same time (in layers)- it was really yum! Yes, I eat a little fish now, but other than that I’m vegetarian.
And tonight nobody else was available except Ben and I to go to Semaphore for dinner and a stroll- savouring the last of the summer evenings before they’re all gone…
