a successful camp

We had a great time at Family Bible Week!  Most of the kids loved being in creche with us, and the helpers I had were really good with the little ones.  There were a few sad occasions when someone wanted their mummy, but all in all we had a great time.

We had a craft table with 3 rotations- paint with water one day, clag gluing on collage scraps another day, and foam stickers and crayons another day.  Then we repeated again.  We had a playdough table with 3 rotations too- potato head stick in’s one day, mini critters to build nests and caves for another day, and the usual playdough rollers and tools another day.

Plus lots of toys for free play in and outdoors including a ball pit and a tents and tunnels set, dolls and strollers, trucks, sand pit, puzzles etc.

A big part of our schedule was spent in group time which the littlies loved- lots of songs, stories, and felt boards, puppets etc.  Also musical instruments, and parachute play with pompoms on top.  So you can see we had lots of fun.  I haven’t got any photos sorry!

Also the puppet shows before tea were a huge success!  We played “baby elephant walk” on the mega boom to gather all the children indoors, which worked a treat.  My favourite puppet show was “the carrot seed” where we played the audio track of the very old album and the puppets acted out what was happening.  You should have seen the children’s faces when the little boy pulled up a real carrot out of the toy garden!  It was pretty magical.

And lots of catching up with other families (including my brother and his wife and kids, 2 of which learnt to ride a bike for the first time!)  and some great bible studies in the evenings too.

And then when we got back we went to my Uncle’s 70th and look at this cute potted daisy they gave me!

Not to mention while we were away one of my rose bushes grew 5 buds all at once, and they opened not long after we got back.
