does dye lot matter?

so I thought in this day and age you didn’t need to worry about dye lots anymore- after all I’m sure the colours are computer matched or something and I’ve never worried about it and never had a problem until…

I realised while we were away for the long weekend that I wasn’t going to be able to complete either jumper because 8 or even 9 x 50g balls was actually not enough to finish the pattern I am working on.  So unbelieveably we took a 20 minute drive to the closest Spotlight because it was still 40% off all yarn- and bought 4 more balls of the same that I had bought for Zoe’s jumper.  (The extra yarn I need for my sister in law’s jumper I have to order from the UK).  So I made a sleeve and 3/4 before one of my kids said to me “are you using 2 different colours on that bit?” and when I looked at it I too could see the problem.  And the frustrating thing is that if I had noticed before using the balls of wool I could have just exchanged them, but as it stands now I’m going to have to buy more and at full price too.  Grrrr.

Talking about ordering yarn from the UK, I know I was complaining how mine hadn’t even been shipped yet, well I got a really nice apologetic email today explaining how they’ve just moved warehouses and been in a big jumble, but it shouldn’t be long now!  So, yes, I still love “Lovecrochet”, I just know it’s not instant, but hey, good things take time. (like my brother always says)

Anyway we had a fantastic relaxing weekend away in the Barossa, staying with friends, doing lots of crochet and nothing stressful!  And the weather was nice too, but we did sit by the fire a bit because we could!
