Family Brunch

Family Brunch

We had a family get-together on Saturday, we did a 3 course brunch here which went really well.  We began with berries and yoghurt with C.A.D.A (cashews, almonds, dates and apple chopped in the thermy)- plus coconut and chia seeds.  My thermy demonstrator recommended it to me (thanks Grace), and she suggested using granny smith apples because the dates are sweet, and I used fresh dates and yes, it is delicious.

Then the kids hopped down to play for a bit and I made up some pancakes- my brother (who is an excellent chef) onlooking my cooking suggested I get a hot plate that goes over 2 burners on the stove, instead of my second rate frypans- excellent idea Sam- and thanks Ben for agreeing!

And then some of us walked down to the local playground to hide the rocks that we painted last time they were over, which was great fun.  The girls wanted to take the rocks with us in a little basket which the youngest one happily carried.  Especially fun because it's a newly done up playground, which we hadn't visited yet...

we hope someone enjoys discovering them there soon!  There were quite a lot because the girls painted prolifically last time they were over.

And when we came back we popped the spinach and feta danishes (from Baker's Delight) into the oven to enjoy as a finale.  Yum!  We just had small portions of each course, and it was very enjoyable.

And yesterday we had visitors for lunch, and just look at this BEAUTIFUL cotton crochet rug my friend is making!  (Well we didn't eat the visitors, we ate luscious food including strawberry almond daquois for dessert...)

She said she's using paintbox yarns cotton- which is interesting because I keep seeing their yarns and I've never ordered any, but they have a really good colour range.  This is the pattern, I think I'll just have to make one.

I just love how the ripples have the bobbly trebles as well as the usual ripples- so pretty.  Isn't she doing a fabulous job with it!  And I adore the colours too.
