it's about time!

it's about time!

yes, apologies.  You sort of get snowed under when you get back from holiday, busy, busy.  Oh, and then go away again after 3 days to enjoy the long weekend on our annual Barossa stay with friends.

Anyway.  I finished the pink jumper I was making for Zoe on the long weekend,

long crochet jumper

and the first day she wore it she didn’t realise her chain ornate handbag was snagging the wool where it rubbed.  Sadness.  It’s not ruined, just doesn’t look new in one patch.  If it spoils it (and she’s not wearing it anymore) then I can always unravel a goodish bit and make it a shorter rather than a longer jumper.  The pattern was called Elsa off shoulder sweater, and it’s a good pattern- no seam anywhere and no making panels and sewing them up- you work it in one piece from the neck down, then add the sleeves.  About the sleeves- I adjusted the pattern as the sleeves were too wide and baggy, so I used less stitches than they recommended.  And my neck even though I followed the pattern isn’t “off the shoulder”- so perhaps if you need that look you should go up a couple of sizes in hook for that bit.  But it was fun to make, and a nice textured look with the sc, dc stitch repeat.

There is yarn left over, so I’ve been making cabled beanies!  A challenge for me are the cables, but I’m onto my second beanie and really getting the hang of it now.  I haven’t got a photo yet, but this is the pattern I’ve been using.

Looking forward to catching up with neices and nephew tomorrow!
