lemon poppyseed cake
so tomorrow is Zoe’s birthday (23 she turns) and she requested for cake- lemon poppyseed! One of my favourites too. I’ve tried to decorate it like Ingrid used to when in my younger days I used to work at Marigold Garden Tearooms (part of LIberty Bookshop) and Ingrid would come and deliver some of the cakes. I can never get the knack though of not letting the fresh lemon slices bleed juice and make runs in the icing- there must be some little trick that Ingrid only knows! I took the photo before it had a chance to run though, so you won’t really know what I’m talking about.
Do you like spinach & ricotta lasagna? We do ours with mushrooms and tomato aswell, it is super yummy, especially using fresh lasagna sheets make in the pasta machine. Seb is a good help with the cooking at home, he really enjoys it too.
sorry, I’d already taken a bite and then I thought of taking a photo.
Our prizegiving went really well today, the little ones sang out loud, and held up their props with good timing, and were obviously so pleased to be there. The youngest at first didn’t want to come up on stage but his mum came and sat with him for a minute and one of his friends said into the microphone “if you don’t come up then we can’t sing” which was really cute. And the seniors kids movie was really well done, a good rendition of part of the Moses story, with some funny bits thrown in too.
All in all, a good day for everybody. May God be praised.
