Romanesco broccoli

I just thought this looked so beautiful in my mum's garden

romanesco broccoli

Sebastian talked her into planting it- it appeals to him mathematically I think.

Looking forward to sharing some of it soon- I hope some of the other plants produce just as well in their own time.

Tonight for dinner we had Thai style broccoli soup (just ordinary broccoli) and middle eastern baked eggplants- but of course I forgot to take a photo so you'll just have to take my word for it that they were very yummy.  (Both thermy recipes from Cookidoo).  My friend said I should let everybody know how impressed with the thermomix I am- I thanked her for putting me on to it, because I use it all the time and will never look back!  I especially love browsing all the recipes on Cookidoo, dragging and dropping them into my weekly planner, and emailing myself the shopping list- it's just so easy.  You would think I am getting paid for this post, but I'm not!

I did take a photo the other night of the meal- a salad bowl with toasted pita, roast broccoli and lemon, eggplant bites with tumeric dressing...

Plus I made the usual weekend loaf of banana bread- it never lasts long around here!  Of course I always add in cinnamon, and a dash of vinegar in the milk to make it lighter, and replace 3/4ish of the castor sugar with brown sugar, but otherwise, just the basic banana bread recipe on the Cook-key.

what else?  The almond tree is in blossom- how stunning

and my friend ordered a beanie with no pompoms, and not in the slouchy style

and my birthday present arrived from the boys- a really cool big book to share at playgroups and creche's etc- a Chinese folk tale with a lovely moral to enjoy.

Oh, and today my daughter is in a wedding- but no photos allowed up sorry :(

But it was a beautiful wedding, and the bride and groom looked so overflowingly happy, and all their friends enjoying it with them too.

Happy Saturday to you!
