the swishy grass day

the swishy grass day

I’m doing it! I’m doing it!  I’m actually mastering the loop stitch at last!  It took me a while, but now I don’t know what the trouble was at all.  Well, actually part of the problem was that I hold my working yarn in a different way to Laura on her video, so I had to follow another ladies method.  Loop Stitch does use up the yarn though, so soon I’m going to have to trot off to Spotlight to get some more green.

It’s for the swishy grass on the crochet road play mat I am making.

And I did take a quick photo of one of the cakes I made on Friday, but I’m afraid it looks just like the other one I did recently.  The dacquois wasn’t assembled, and the cheesecake was still in it’s tin so they didn’t get photographed.  Did I tell you the saga with the chocolate cake’s ganache?  I had the cake in the oven and Zoe was at the shops with my shopping list that had “Nestle choc melts” written on it so I could ice it as soon as it was cool.  Well Zoe came back saying “I’m glad you put choc chips on the list because when I made brownies this morning I noticed there were none left”.  Uh oh, Zoe, I need to melt the Choc Melts to make ganache, I can’t use Choc-holds-their-shapes-when-baked-Bits for ganache!  She said to send Basti.  So presently I sent Basti back off to the shops to get bags of Nestle choc melts, and he came back with…

Milk chocloate melts.  Uh oh, Basti, I can’t make ganache with Milk melts!  So presently back he went to exchange the milk chocolate for dark chocolate melts.  Finally I was able to ice the cake, but I had to put it in the fridge for an hour before the kids left for youth group so the icing didn’t slide off when they went around the corner in the car!
